Physical characteristic
A male hawk is gray above and whitish below with black wing tips. Female hawks are brown with black on the tail. And they both have owl-like faces.
Habitat
The hawk lives fields and
marshes and likes in a open habitat with low vegetation. during winter they live in desserts, coastal sand dunes, grasslands, croplands and marshes.

Prey
The hawk eats small mammals, reptiles and amphibians. During winter the eat deer mice, house mice, shrews, rabbits, song birds, andNorthern Cardinals.

1. Males hawks can have as many as five mates at once.
2. The oldest hawk on record is a female and at least 15 years old.
3. hawks fossils dating from 11,000 to 40,000 years ago have been unearthed in Northern Mexico.
